Sore throat (as a chief complaint) is one of the most common reasons for a sick-child visit to the pediatrician’s office. Often times, there is parental concerns for strep throat and “just want to have them checked”. Just checking a Rapid Strep test or throat culture is no big deal right? We can just put them on antibiotics and they will improve, won't they? This podcast will review the etiologies of pharyngitis in children and the history associated with them, what physical exam findings are concerning, what tests are available and how reliable they are, and finally how to treat these tiny humans that have a sore throat.
